Course Energie grids / TU Graz

Lecturers:

Fickert, Lothar, Univ.-Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dr.techn. (part electrical engineeering)
Lettner, Friedrich, Dipl.-Ing. Dr.techn. (part thermal engenieering)

Content:

Characterization of the different forms and carriers of energy to be transferred (electricity, gas, district heating) and presentation of the relevant system technology and installation standards, operation and grid simulation.

Part 1 - Power grids [Fickert]: Energy flow, structure of power supply systems, types of grids, loads and load profiles, aerial lines and cable (different types available, characteristics), voltage drop and loss, key figures for the energy management, grounding and safety measures

Part 2: Grid-bound heat and gas supply (DH, gas grids) [Lettner]: Thermodynamics and criteria of combined heat and power generation, loads and load profiles for dimensioning purposes, optimization approaches for the operation of district heating grids, requirements concerning sustainable plant design (infrastructure!), integrated energy systems based on innovative, decentralized concepts for the utilization of renewable sources.

Part 3: Energy supply for and by means of various supply grids (electricity, gas, heating grids) [Fickert+Lettner] Presentation and discussion of the various characteristics, efficiency criteria and reuqirements refering to the installation and operation of such grids.
